Most tactical flashlights use a pair of lithium disposable batteries. These are lightweight, small and compact. They are also able to withstand extreme temperatures. These devices require batteries with high energy density, which makes lithium cells ideal. With these batteries, you can store your flashlight for a long time without having to worry about their capacity level. Though these batteries are more expensive than their conventional counterparts, they are more cost-effective because of their long life.
Some flashlight models use rechargeable batteries. These can be charged from any electrical outlet, including a car cigarette lighter. They are therefore convenient for outdoor use.
The most popular construction material for these devices is aluminum. This has several benefits over steel; it is non-magnetic, corrosion resistant and lightweight. It is also an excellent electrical conductor. Devices made of aluminum are very durable.
Special finishes can be applied to enhance durability. One such coating is the hard anodized finish. Here, the aluminum is specially treated to produce a thicker coating that is also highly resistant to corrosion.
